There’s something about being under a deadline that generates the best ideas. That’s why high school students strategically plan to do assignments right at the last minute. At hths.hacks(), we believe that tech can change the world, so we’re challenging you to solve a problem in 24 hours. COVID-19 might have taken hths.hacks() online, but don't worry--we didn't forget about the prizes! You'll get the opportunity to meet some fellow hackers and great sponsors, the chance to win some prizes and learn something new. Form a team of up to four and see what you can create!
Make sure to register for hths.hacks() 2021 here: https://forms.gle/X9q8z9Vy9CSKjgen7
Also, make sure to check your emails for a link to the Discord server for important updates and community interaction!
*Additional prizes and sponsors will be added up until the day of the hackathon.
Eligibility
This event is open to current high school students.
Requirements
We want you to have the most time to hack, but we still need to fully understand your project in order to judge it fairly. In general, please make sure you meet all the requirements below. HOWEVER, you will not be awarded more points just because your video has better transitions or because there are spelling mistakes. We are judging the hack, not your video editing or writing skills.
Your submission must contain the following requirements to be considered for a prize:
- 3-minute video (or less) demonstrating your hack
- Include a quick elevator pitch of what your project is
- Include a full demo of your project working. We will not be running your projects
- Explain quickly what technologies you used and what you went through
- Description of the project on Devpost
- Please fill in all the categories in the template. Because we are virtual, we want the most information so we can give everyone the best shot at winning.
- Link to your code/schematics
- Ideally please link a Github repo
- We do NOT need documentation. We would rather you spend more time hacking and less time documenting

Judging Criteria
-
Technical Difficulty
Is the hack technically interesting or difficult? Is it just some lipstick on an API, or were there real technical challenges to surmount? This is the most important criterion that your hack will be judged upon for the general prizes. -
Originality
Is the hack more than just another generic social/mobile/local app? Does it do something entirely novel, or at least take a fresh approach to an old problem? -
Functionality
Is the hack a functional, working project, rather than just an idea?
